Egypt has designated some members of the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorists

One of Egypt's most prominent pro-democracy activists has been added to the list of terrorists, along with more than 20 others, accused of joining the Muslim Brotherhood.

Alaa Abdel-Fattah was one of the leaders who led the uprising that ended Hosni Mubarak's rule in 2011.

He was sentenced to five years in prison but was re-arrested after his arrest in September following a crackdown on anti-government protesters.

A prominent Islamist politician, Adel-Monaem Abul Fetouh, is also on the list of terrorists for the next five years.
