Gunmen stormed the compound of an Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU) campus and abducted him, his wife and daughter, university spokesman Auwalu Umar told Reuters. BBC.
The incident took place around 12:50 pm on Sunday night after gunmen stormed his home in Samaru, according to a statement issued by Auwalu Umar on Monday.
“The university security department alerted the police immediately after receiving an emergency call and when the gunmen saw that they were about to be arrested they went into the bush with the people,” the statement said.
“After the police escorted them to the Village Market area adjacent to the university, they released the woman and his daughter and confronted her.”
Auwal Umar added that bullets were found at the scene of the exchange of fire with the criminals.
The incident comes two days after about 10 ABU students abducted by kidnappers on their way to a course in Lagos State were released on November 15.
