Nigeria will start buying oil from the Republic of Niger

The Government of Nigeria and the Republic of Niger have signed an agreement that will allow the transportation and storage of oil between the two countries.

A statement from the office of Nigeria's Minister of Petroleum stated that talks had taken place for about four months before an agreement could be reached.

According to Chief Timipre Sylva, who is also the Minister of State for Petroleum, "This is a big step forward. The Republic of Niger has a lot of crude oil that it needs to sell. Nigeria has a market for these products".

It is expected to start transporting crude oil and its relatives, such as kalanzir, from Niger to Nigeria.

The minister said that all countries would benefit from the current agreement.
