Reports say more than 50 people have been beheaded in three days in clashes that erupted in northern Mozambique.
Islamist militants have attacked several villages in Miudumbe and Macomia, in the province of Carbo Delgado, killing scores of people and abducting women and returning home.
In the village of Muatide, it was reported that the extremists had turned the stadium into a place of execution.
Local media say people trying to escape from the field have been arrested, handcuffed and mutilated.
Hundreds of people have been killed and thousands displaced in the conflict that began more than three years ago.
