The Kogi State Government has introduced a new tax system for every bread in the state.
In a statement issued by the state Ministry of Commerce and Industry, it said the tax would help generate revenue in the state.
Reports say the state government has hired a special consultant, to help her collect taxes from bakery bakers.
However, it was revealed that the Nigerian Bakery Association had already rejected the move by the state government.
Bread prices have recently risen in some parts of Nigeria due to rising prices of flour, sugar and other accessories, according to bakery companies.
