The Nigerian government has offered 65 billion naira to the Association of State University Teachers (ASUU) for teachers’ allowances and the revitalization of universities.

The Minister of Labor and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, announced the government’s decision to the teachers’ union at a meeting on Friday.
The minister described the talks as fruitful as the government considered changing its position on its dispute with the teachers’ union which had barred students from studying for months.
The minister said the government had offered 15 billion shillings in funding for the revitalization of the universities, after the $ 20 billion initially paid by the government.
