Former Nigerian vice president and opposition leader Atiku Abubakar has claimed that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is the “best” in the country.
Atiku, who is running for the PDP presidency in the 2019 elections, said all political parties in Nigeria should be under his leadership “because it is the party that believes in the sustainability of Nigeria”.
Atiku made the announcement on Monday in a Twitter post.
“The PDP has a mission to deliver in Nigeria and I urge all Nigerians from all walks of life to believe in the PDP, which believes in the sustainability of Nigeria,” Atiku said.
Atiku’s comments come amid reports that the party’s governors are divided over who will succeed Uche Secondus as leader, whose term expires next December.
