Breaking : Saudi Arabia arrests 16 for drug trafficking

Saudi authorities have arrested 16 drug traffickers in the capital, Riyadh, and in Jeddah.

The people were arrested by the General Directorate of Narcotics Control while trying to smuggle nearly 20 million amphetamine into the country.

The Saudi Gazzette quoted the agency's spokesman, Captain Muhammad Al-Najidi, as saying that 10 of them were nationals and six were foreigners.

"The anti-drug team has successfully dismantled a criminal camp in Riyadh consisting of up to five people who specialize in drug trafficking and a total of 9,878,500 amphetamine drugs have been confiscated from them," he said.

Al-Najidi said 10 more people had been arrested in Jeddah, where 5,827,000 amphetamine was found in some items at their home.

In a separate operation, a foreigner was arrested while attempting to smuggle 3,228,323 amphetamine into a potato container in the Al-Haditha area on the border with Jordan.

Saudi Arabia is one of the world's most difficult countries to deal with if convicted of drug trafficking.

The country has sentenced many people to death. However, in some cases, there are some miscreants who add drugs to their pilgrimage.

In recent days, nearly two Nigerians have been affected by the incident, with the Nigerian government later assisting in their rescue after they were found not guilty.
