COVID-19 : Kwara State imposes night curfew

The Kwara State government has imposed a curfew from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm in a bid to curb the spread of cholera.

The directive is part of a new anti-retroviral measure issued by the state anti-corrosion committee on Wednesday.

Speaking to newsmen in Ilorin, the state, the Commissioner for Health and Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Raji Rasaq, said the law would take effect from Thursday, December 24.

Other measures include suspending government employees to the office, where only those who are required to attend will go to work.

In addition, the commissioner said the schools will remain closed until further notice.

"It is imperative that places of worship do not take people more than 50 percent of what they normally take for granted."

Kwara State has received a total of 1,328 cases of cholera as of Tuesday night, according to the NCDC. 31 of them died, while 1,094 recovered.
