However, the US university later denied that it had offered the Kano governor the post of professor and lecturer at the university, following an investigation by Premium Times.
The university said the letter sent by one of its staff to the governor had not been approved by the university authorities.
A statement from the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, called on the Kano State Government to punish the university official who sent a letter of confirmation to him to the governor seeking to discredit the governor and the people of Kano State. .
The statement added that the governor had not applied for a position at the university.
