Suspected gunmen have abducted a woman and her son, killing a police driver in Falgoren, Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State in northwestern Nigeria.
Reports say the gunmen attacked last night, and on their way out of the town they clashed with police.
This comes at a time when the people of the country continue to celebrate the rescue of the students of Kankara School in Katsina State.
A Falgore resident told the BBC: “The gunmen went straight to the house of a man named Alhaji Usuhu, who had been fighting Falgore and abducted his wife and son, who had recently been weaned.
“On their way out of the city, they were confronted by a police patrol and immediately opened fire on the police and set fire to the staff vehicle.”
The man told the BBC that the number of hijackers was 50, and that they had spent about days doing whatever they wanted.
The BBC tried to contact the Kano State Police but was unsuccessful.
