Former chairman of Olamaboro Local Government Area of Central Nigeria, Isaac Emmanuel Ekpa, has been abducted by gunmen.
Sources close to the honorabul said he was abducted last Friday in Ochadamu of Ofu Local Government Area on his way home.
Reports say Ekpa was planning to bury his father after he died at the time of the incident.
Kogi state police spokesman Williams Ayah was quoted in the Nigerian media as saying that a patrol car was found empty by police on Ochadamu Road.
They searched the car and found an identification card bearing Emmanuel Isaac Ekpa, he said.
The kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of 25 million naira, with a relative reportedly negotiating for a reduction in their demands.
