Many Nigerians fear the re-entry of a similar ban imposed weeks ago, including Hausa singer Ali Jita.
The popular singer has joined the ranks of Nigerians on social media, begging for a delay in putting on corona bands “because he does not want to give back to people the money he has already received”.
“Let it be until March before the lockout law is enacted. Singers’ lives are very important. I can’t give people back their money. I’ve finished planning and spending money,” he said in a Twitter message.
He added that musicians have been under pressure since the beginning of this year.
Thousands of Nigerians have also expressed their views on the curfew, which was re-introduced by the federal government on Monday following an increase in coronavirus.
The word “lockdown” has been the most talked about topic on Twitter by Nigerians since the compilation of this report.
