The Nigerian government on Thursday accused the country’s religious leaders of undermining the government’s fight against the corona epidemic.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Commission on Disease Control, Boss Mustapha, made this known during a press conference in Abuja.
Mr Mustapha accused the clerics of organizing large gatherings which, he said, would help spread the disease.
The number of cases of coronavirus has risen sharply in recent days.
On Thursday, the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) announced that 675 people had been infected with the virus, the highest number since the outbreak in recent days.
