The Katsina state government has denied media reports that 300 snowmen abducted by Boko Haram have been released.
The BBC spoke to Katsina State Secretary to the Government, Mustapha Inuwa at about 3:15 pm Nigerian time, saying the news that they had been released was untrue, but that the children were expected to be released soon.
Earlier, Arise TV reported the rescue of the children, which was later posted on Twitter by Abire Dabiri-Erewa, an adviser to the president on foreign affairs and Nigerians living abroad. 333 children were released.
However, Abike Dabiri later claimed that it was not her fault that her social media accounts had been taken over.
