Three abducted Nigerian policemen rescued

The Ogun State Police Command says it has rescued three out of four soldiers abducted by thugs in Aba Tuntun North Ijebu Local Government Area.

A spokesman for the force, Abimbola Oyeyemi, made the announcement while addressing newsmen in Abeokuta on Saturday.

He added that the kidnappers are still holding Kurtu Emmanuel Gene.

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the case and are providing important information to the police, according to Mr Oyeyemi.

“It was on Thursday that the mayor of the area reported to the police that some youths were walking around with dangerous weapons in the area, which led to the police arriving at the scene and confiscating the weapons,” he said.

“While they were on their way to take the people with their weapons to the police station, some guerrillas ambushed them and kidnapped four of them.

“They shot the DPO in the hand and rescued the suspects. We rescued three of them but we do not know where their stomachs are.”
