A statement issued by the commissioner of security, Samuel Aruwan, said the incident took place on Tuesday in Kajuru, Kachia Local Government Area.

In the first attack, gunmen blocked the Kaduna-Kachia road near Kanye village and opened fire on a bus and a pickup truck carrying wood.

Five people died instantly including the bus driver, and the rest are in hospital receiving treatment, according to the statement.

The gunmen also blocked the main road in Doka village, shooting at a truck and killing its driver, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.

The statement added that gunmen also attacked a Fulani hut in Inlowo village, killing one person and stealing 180 cows.

Also in Akilbu village, gunmen opened fire on a car, injuring two people, one of whom died at the hospital, while the other was hospitalized.
